I'm from the Colorado desert of Southern California, have lived in Seattle, the Bay area, Ca. Central coast, traveled a little in Europe, and ALL over the US, yet shamefully have never been to Mexico. In my past life I was masquerading as a particle physicist, earning a BS from UCSC and starting a PhD at Stanford. Realizing I had gotten too deep in this particular game (and that it was a game at all!) I'm now trying to a walk a path more open to the world.
I came across Permaculture in some connectivity with my health. Originally, in trying to understand how to care for myself the best while not harming the outside world I was seeking self-reliance. I wanted to create systems that could operate singly within themselves. A year later and having now gone through my first PDC I seek more community-cooperation and increasing connectivity between systems!
Right now I'm using PC to help transform my little property into a more stable base for myself. I want to start or aid community garden/farm projects as well as other local food systems, as well as alternative currency systems, etc. I'm very interested in water conservation systems and water use/rights issues.
I'm interested in aid work and work with indigenous communities around the world (including US).
