I have a lifelong interest in growing plants and using them to emulate natural landscapes. I am an ex farmer and an experienced nurseryman, and have been a sideline observer of permaculture for some time now.

My partner and I bought a hillside block in Cairns some three years ago and have been busy creating what I have loosely called a habitat garden. The habitat is to include both ourselves, by being as self sustaining as we can manage, and such animals, birds,insects and butterflies as we are able to provide for along the way. The theme is rainforest and incorporates fruit and food trees, plantains and specific larval host plants and vines.

I am hoping that by interaction with the members of this site I will continue to learn about sustainable life practices, and perhaps meet some engaging people along the way.
