(projects i'm involved in)
Born in Laredo, Texas, I have spent 20 years on the Mexican border and lived in East Texas, Dallas, and the Rio Grande Valley. In 2008 we bought the Lazy A Ranch and are managing 200+ acres between Bellville and Hempstead. We breed British White and Japanese Red Waygu cattle. We sell breeding stock, steers, and grassfed beef. My professional background is establishing and managing schools and we operate one Anglican school, Saint Nicholas, and a Charter school in Houston. The ranch is a family partnership with our four children and eight grandchildren.
We have attended Holistic Management courses, use the Keyline plow, and had a workshop here led by Owen Hablutzel to develop our Permaculture Design Plan for the ranch. Attending was Betsy Ross from Sustainable Growth Texas, who provides liquid compost and organic fertilizer.
We follow rotational grazing, compost, recycle, have bio-digester sewage systems, use non toxic materials, and manage cattle and wildlife to be mutually beneficial. We have day programs and a Guest Lodge with day and night activities and safaris.
Currently we are seeking someone with earthworks experience to assist us in completing the ponds and swales. We are also searching for alternative energy sources. We would like to see nearby projects.
