Kyle brings a diverse set of skills derived from experiences as a sailor, photographer, documentary filmmaker, citizen watchdog, yacht captain and non-profit director. He ran Newport’s adaptive sailing program Shake-A-Leg for several years and has logged over 35,000 miles of offshore sailing including a transatlantic on the J-Class yacht Endeavour.
Following a 2011 van Beuren Charitable Foundation fellowship with the Social Venture Partners of Rhode Island, Kyle organized the Food & Farming Community Forum to promote local food and farming. This led to the founding of Sustainable Aquidneck in 2012, which he serves as President. Kyle also serves as Secretary and founding member of Island Commons, a sustainability center being developed on 70 acres of conserved open space and agricultural land surrounding St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth.
Kyle currently is a reporter for ecoRI News in Providence and lives in Middletown.
