I'm Lauren, originally from New York but since has simply become a citizen of the world. I have farmed with family in New York and Washington and now our dream is to farm in Ireland, the land of our ancestors. We are striving to create a closed-loop, self subsistent (acknowledging the use of barter), omnivorous system in West Cork. I am currently studying at The Evergreen State College in preparation for my expatriation. I have emphasized in agriculture, food science, health & wellness, and ecology. My employment and volunteer background includes farms such as The Evergreen State College Organic Farm - a 5 acre teaching farm, market garden; Left Foot Organics - a 4 acre market driven farm that employed adults with developmental and intellectual disability and at-risk rural youth; The Olympia Seed Exchange - a community project that educates and employs a variety of seed saving techniques and provides a forum for a weekly seed exchange in town; Delphinia Community - a subsistence based living and growing community; the Olympia Free Herbal Clinic's medicinal herb gardens and MANY MORE!
