(projects i'm involved in)
Originally from Seattle, I have lived in Costa Rica since 2003. I earned a master's degree in Physics, but have spent my professional life as an entrepreneur designer, including working in the fashion world, graphic design, and architecture.
I come from a family of forward-thinking gentleman farmers. My great, great grandfather was a founding member of a utopian community in Mexico over 100 years ago. My great grandfather was California's President of the board of agriculture. My uncle was one of the first organic farmers in Southern California. I've been raised in this culture of thinkers and doers and so creating ecological communities in Costa Rica has been a very natural choice for me.
While I have three projects in our area, my primary one is called Rancho Delicioso, started in 2011. We are focused on bringing organic growing techniques to a part of Costa Rica that has nearly no agriculture. Our 20 acres has terrible soil after 90 years of cattle farming so we're rebuilding that and working on testing hundreds of varieties of seeds to see what will grow here. Our goal is to provide permaculture information for our local community, working with international and local volunteers.
