(projects i'm involved in)
Grew up in the countryside of northern germany close to the baltic sea. Joined the boy scouts, carpenter apprenticeship after school. Then studied geography. Since 2007 working as a biodynamic oat breeder at the Dottenfelderhof in Bad Vilbel.
During working on my Phd thesis (it was about erosion and phosphorus losses) I wanted to write a small chapter about alternative agriculture practices. Then I found books from Mollison and Fukuoka and since then it got me. This is the serious story, but there is also a more fun story: A friend of mine is a big fan of zombie movies so I gave him the 'Zombie survival guide' as a present. He then gave me a real survival guide and in this guide Bill Mollisons permaculture was referenced as a way of survival agriculture. So in a way you can say that zombies brought me to permaculture. Both stories are true, they happened at the same time.
At the moment besides my job as an oat-breeder I try to develop a 2000 m² apple orchard (Streuobstwiese) into a more diverse place with vegetable garden. I just finished the online pdc with Geoff Lawton and he encouraged us students to join the community on permacutureglobal.
