My fiancee and I bought a house on 1.5 acres last October, and it's finally time to get into the full swing of transforming it into our little slice of permaculture eden. With dandelions and daffodils blooming, and the cherry blossoms adding a hint of pink to much of my area, spring is creeping into my region and it's work time.
And speaking of work, I have high hopes for landing a job with a local feed store that is run by a permaculture designer who is doing amazing work spreading permaculture to Thurston County. I'll be able to say more once I officially find out if I got the job or not, but if I do I think it'll be a major boost to the projects I'm starting to work on around the homestead.
These facts combine in an exciting and scary way. The time for learning about permaculture through study of books, videos, design courses, and on-paper design is over. It's time to get my hands dirty and start to learn through application, and I'm excited to see where this goes.
