A former analyst with a background in computer science, though permaculture is my primary interest now, I still work in a world of data, figures, and numbers. The breadth of knowledge that comes into play as part of permaculture feeds that very well as there is always more to look at, gain knowledge of, and explore. A loving wife and energetic small children bring balance to that.
My interest in permaculture came from an internship in the late 90's that opened my eyes that there was more going on in the world than I could have imagined. Combining that with the instability in the world, I saw a need for more holistic practices towards building a better future. After many years of trying to take a PDC, I finally had that opportunity, having completed mine with Susquehanna Permaculture in October 2010. Since then it's been a great time.
I am currently involved in the Transition Town movement in Harrisburg, which is also working to bring Transition to Newport and Perry County. Working with a local non-profit to establishing an Urban Agriculture program to bring fresh, local, sustainable food to the inner-city, . With my spare time I design, and re-design, my yard while also recording a podcast on permaculture.
