Permaculture Teachers' Training Course

Posted by George Sobol almost 8 years ago

Delighted to announce that there will be a teachers' training course in Finland this September.

Dates: 3 September – 9 September 2016

Venue: Elontila, Salmintie 72, Lahti, Finland

Course leaders: George Sobol , Ilkka Aula

Price: 510 € (includes the tuition, training materials, accommodation, food, sauna). If you can afford it, we'd like to invite you to pay a higher course fee so that we can offer bursaries to less well-off participants. More information on registration form.

Registration: Use the registration form (http://goo.gl/forms/1eUKkQwhzZ) before 15th of August.

Contact: For further information please contact Ilkka Aula, [email protected], telephone +358 (0) 45 8797999 or George Sobol [email protected]

During the course there will be a programme of practical activities to introduce participants to methods and techniques for working with children/young people.

Teaching is like passing the light through the prism, where the light changes its characteristics at the end point. And there are at least two prisms - the Trainer and the Student.

Making an informative and interesting permaculture course depends on teacher’s ability to find the right balance between providing the correct understanding the essence of permaculture in the multitude of its aspects and enriching the subject by both teacher’s and student’s personal experience and understanding.

The permaculture teacher should be able to find the appropriate course format and to compose the individual programme based on the international curriculum taking into account the resources available, alongside specific natural, cultural and community demands.

The trainer should be familiar with specific requirements for adult education and to be able to maintain a friendly atmosphere of mutual learning. The use of interactive teaching methods and techniques of accelerated learning is now becoming the norm in permaculture education.

Since the course gives a lot of emphasis on workshops and practical teaching sessions led by each course participant, the maximum number of students is limited to 15 persons. The course will be taught in English. Participants are expected to have completed the 72 hour Permaculture Design Course (PDC).

The course will be arranged in a unique venue which was designed by well-known architect Unto Ojonen in 1940’s. The building is surrounded by the special Nikko Park-influneced garden with lots of hidden stories and wonders. The house was built using the fengshui –principles, which creates a harmonious feeling to the place.
