"There is no other reality than the present Here and Now" – Buddha
“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.” ― Masanobu Fukuoka, The One-Straw Revolution
The ability to remain as much as possible in the here and now is the central theme of all great spiritual traditions and crucial to each of us; to stay in the present moment is a condition that allows us to generate profound changes in our lives.
The concept of Mindfulness comes from Buddhist teachings (Vipassana), Zen, and yoga meditation practices, but it is only since the seventies in the United States through the work of a doctor from Massachusetts, Kabat-Zinn, that this model has been assimilated and used as an autonomous paradigm in some medical and psychotherapeutic disciplines.
Mindfulness is therefore a methodology that teaches you to pay attention, moment by moment, in an intentional and non-judgmental way, in order to solve (or prevent) inner suffering and reach an acceptance of oneself through a greater awareness of our own experience which includes: feelings, perceptions, impulses, emotions, thoughts, words, actions, and relationships. Permaculture is the design of functional ecosystems based on the imitation of relationships and inter-dependencies between our various species and natural resources (land, water, air, heat/light) in order to sustainably meet the needs of the local population in relation to food, medicines, fibre, housing, water and energy.
According to the ethical underpinning of permaculture people and the way they organize themselves is paramount:
• Care of the earth: to guarantee the permanence of all life forms and natural resources;
• Care of people: to ensure the availability of resources, physical and mental, for people's livelihood;
• Right-sharing: save resources by re-investing in the care of the earth and people.
The teaching of Permamindfulness® was born from the encounter between Vincenzo and Giuseppe Tallarico, uncle and nephew respectively, who are now co-teachers of Permamindfulness® and Permamindfulness for Trainers®.
In Permamindfulness®, mindfulness is applied to the vision, ethics and principles of permaculture: the aim is to develop the resources for a balanced mind, important in any permaculture project just as it is important in any assessment of biophysical and existing material conditions.
Permamindfulness®, through theoretical and practical lessons, leads to the experiential understanding of human nature and the full realization of the vision, ethics and principles of permaculture.
Permamindfulness® provides a path for those who are interested in various levels of permaculture and meditative practice, and those who are also interested in becoming trainers of Permamindfulness®.
