I discovered Permaculture quite by accident in 2010 when I was researching electronics plans to utilize solar and wind energy for small outdoor machines, namely decorative landscape enhancements. I became so interested that my school studies in Electronics fell by the wayside and I left the school knowing what it was I really wanted to do when I grew up (I was 42 at the time.)
I researched as much as possible on my own for the next few years and I began planning and making changes to my urban property. I started small. As I continued I began to understand how so many facets of Permaculture fit together to make the entire picture this seamless plan.
I currently focus on tropical and sub-tropical fruit trees with an eye on small urban food forestry. Since I do not currently have acreage to spread out, I am utilizing what I have, where I am. Smaller spaces come with their own unique set of problems and solutions and I learn something from the world around me every day.
I am currently attending the first PDC+ offered by Scott Mann of The Permaculture Podcast. Thanks to him and my fellow students for the support and insight that has come from this experience.
Cheers!
