I grew up on family farm in rural Kansas and have always been involved in agriculture and growing food at some capacity. My childhood memories involve raising sheep and helping out with wheat harvest each summer. After college I began teaching nutrition and becoming more involved in urban gardening. I spent some time traveling the US and WWOOFing on different small organic farms. My view of agriculture and caring for the land has changed quite a bit since my childhood.
Presently I work with a non-profit called the Kansas City Community Gardens and I get to assist in establishing and growing food in gardens at schools across the KC metro. I also an working on a Masters degree in Horticulture and Urban Food Systems. This has led me to explore different methods of production that led me to complete the Permaculture Design Course with Midwest Permaculture in June 2015. For now I'm
I look forward to completing my degree and having more time to devote to teaching others about growing good food and how to prepare it. I am passionate about fermentation, simple living, and sharing life with others in community. I hope to one day return to my family farm and transform it into a beautiful permaculture oasis.
