(projects i'm following)
I'm currently working with a Holistic Management project called Grasslands, LLC, the action arm of the Savory Institute, but I come from a background of Buddhism, Intentional Community, Permaculture, Ecopsychology, Transition Towns (PDX primarily), Animal Husbandry, etc.
Grasslands ranches thousands of cattle on vast grasslands in a way that heals the land instead of degrading it (See Time Magazine article titled "How to Save the Grasslands: Bring in More Cattle"). With proper management and strategic, controlled grazing, the ruminant can reverse desertification, sequester massive amounts of carbon, prevent wildfires, increase plant diversity, improve water & mineral cycling, create topsoil, AND feed the world, potentially!
While I am passionate about the Grasslands project and its potential to change the world, I still yearn for Permaculture and the vibrant human energy that it brings. My hope is that we can somehow weave Permaculture projects into our Holistic Ranches. I'm particularly interested in connecting with folks who have experience with large-scale Permaculture applications, especially in arid regions.
