Michael grew up and worked on his parents orchard in the Adelaide Hills.
Michael left home to become a toolmaker and later moved in to IT. With partner Kay rebuild the back yard of their property in Highgate SA. This project included the installation of a 30000 ltr rain water tank which is used to irrigate the three section garden. Section One is backs on to the house and is in a formal arrangement with a 1200 ltr pond and many happy fish. Section Two is a edible garden with vegi patches and fruit trees. Section Three houses the tank, pump, composting bins and a work area. Michael developed his own version of a aquaponics system fed from the pond and has had great success growing herbs. Kay and Michael are very happy with the result of all their hard work but are looking forward to a new property with much more land that would be able to supply vegies and fruit most of the year round. Michael intends to build the new garden using permaculture principles and to do so will be completing a PDC in 2011. Michael would love to hear from people from Australia and especially SA who are into Aquaponics and or Permaculture.
