(projects i'm following)
My passion for good food led me to sustainable food production. It all started when I was volunteering to help the struggling small farmers in my home countries, Palestine and Jordan. The experience exposed me to the urgent need for an alternative approach. This is when I decided to make the transition to a more meaningful life and a career in Permaculture following a 10 year long experience working in the food manufacturing industry.
After immigrating to Australia in 2010 I decided that a good start for my new life in Australia would be to attend a Permaculture Design Certificate course (PDC) with Geoff Lawton at the Permaculture Research Institute (PRI Australia), which led to me staying on the farm to learn more about the application of the design science and be engaged in growing healthy food and living off the land.
During the 4 years spent living on the farm I was involved in the day to day management of the farm, training of volunteers and interns on the various systems operating on the farm, including vegetable crop gardens and nursery systems, small and grazing animal systems, compost and energy systems, and food forests, and pushed by my mentors Geoff and Nadia Lawton to teach in various courses and consult on a number of projects.
Now PRI registered teacher and a member of the Permaculture Sustainable Consultants team, I divide my time between facilitating Permaculture Design Courses and consulting on different Agroecology and Permaculture projects throughout the world and currently managing the establishment of a new Permaculture Demonstration site in Malaysia with a team of local and international consultants led by Geoff Lawton.
Attend an English-Arabic Bilingual PDC in the renowned Greening the Desert Project in the Jordan Valley with Alex McCausland and Salah Hammad in April 2014
Part 2 of the new series introducing Permaculture in Arabic
Decided since theres a lack of arabic videos on youtube explaining and introducing permaculture to that arabic speaking audience to start filming and posting videos hopefully on a weekly basis,
an experience in earthbag building , affordable, sustainable, fun and easy !
