I'm currently completing my masters degree in international and community development, with a focus on environmentalism and food systems. I'm also presently completing six months' research into the rehabilitation of the ailing Jordan River with Friends of the Earth Middle East, based in Jordan.
I had my "aha" moment about four years ago - life doesn't have to be this way...there's a better way of living, of doing things, of dealing with each other and the planet we live on. After reading extensively about permaculture and trying to put some of its principles into practice in Australia before I arrived in Jordan, I was lucky enough to be in the "right place at the right time" to participate in a PDC course with Geoff and Nadia Lawton at the Al-Jawfa site here in Jordan. It was a challenging, fun, exciting and eye-opening two weeks, and I feel well and truly transformed.
I now plan to put my newfound knowledge and worldview into action - I hope to buy land in north-east Victoria, Australia, to create my own permaculture farm, and would love to keep in contact with the growing permaculture movement here in Jordan.
I've just finished my PDC - and I feel like a new person!
The beginning of my permaculture journey...in Jordan!
