(projects i'm following)
I have been TEACHING PERMACULTURE in Quebec since the beginning in 1995 in collaboration with the RHA, Grégoire Lamoureux (Kootenay Permaculture Institute) and Bernard Alonso (Permaculture Internationale). Miracle Farms (see project) is the largest and most developped example of a commercial food forest in Eastern Canada. It is used as a continuing education lab for students of the permaculture courses for workshops (grafting, pruning, nursery propagation, raising small fowl, processing fowl) as well as for Interns. Farm tours are available for groups.
My EXPERIENCE includes TEACHING: fruit production, landscape plants and design, and natural history of vertebrates at McGILL UNIVERSITY. PROFESSIONAL SPEAKING for 25 years. Owner/Operator of a LANDSCAPE DESIGN OFFICE for 20 years to develop 100's of projects for private, institutional and municipal clients. A Biologist and Landscape Architect by training, permaculture has been a natural progression of my training. It's also the solution to most of the modern world's problems.
My ongoing PERMACULTURE PROJECT is Miracle Farms. A members only u-pick permaculture orchard. With 100 cultivars of apples, 16 cvs of pear, 3 cvs of plums and 6 cvs of cherry on 5 hectares (12 acres) our goal is to restore the Wow factor to foods. We grow small fruit (raspberry, strawberry, red and black currant, gooseberry and haskap), herbs, flowers, annual and perennial vegetables among the trees. In the grassy lanes we raise chickens, turkey, guinea fowl, ducks and geese in mobile pens.
Interns learn the basics of these productions as well as permaculture. Follow this projects progress on Facebook (Les Fermes Miracle Farms) as well as WPN.
Here's 2 videos about the Permaculture Orchard at Miracle Farms and the 2 hour film describing and demonstrating the principles, concepts and techniques is out.
After 19 years of teaching about Permaculture and PDC's as well as developing the largest permaculture orchard in eastern North America I've finally graduated from a PDC.
