Agricultural engineer, trained in tropical forestry & environmental planning at Wageningen University, Netherlands.
Ran into sole promotor of permaculture in Spain in 1989, first short course locally, then travelled to 'check this thing out' downunder, attended IPC IV in Nepal. Started organising design courses back in NL, first with the great Lea Harisson (AU), also workshops with Max Lindegger (AU), later with Patrick Whitefield (UK).
Attended the Ecovillage Conference at Findhorn in 1995, when GEN was founded.
Did the conceptual design for integrated neighborhood Lanxmeer in Culemborg town, a private initiative from the incrowd, along permaculture lines - now a hobby horse for integrated town planning. Wrote 'Gardens of Abundance' in 1996, the standard work on PC in NL, republished in 2011, 2012.
Involved as organiser, designer, teacher in various projects, urban, rural, international (incl. Spain), intending to put more leverage on the pro agro-scene, which in NL is probably the most deeply invested in industrial monoculture in the entire world. Working to introduce pilots with 'compost masters' and community composting.
