The journey to Permaculture began with a 2 by 10 yard community garden plot with an interest in providing fresh home grown produce. Some 6 years down the path as it were, has resulted in a reformation of lifestyle, aiming at closing the loop of self reliance. Along the way we met Sepp, Bill, Geoff, Jullette and Isabell to name a few teachers. Medicinal herbs, wild edibles, native plants, animal husbandry and contraptions are of high interest.
Along with the husband who originally scoffed at the idea of fighting a mosquito for a tomato, he now pretty much leads the band of our family of 3, (unless of course you count the ducks, bees, rabbits and dogs, lest we for get the worms). Found objects and completing projects close to midnight are a frequent practice. It's never a dull moment. We continue to experiment with a forrest edge location on a south east facing slope in the microclimate zones of the lower mainland BC. We've been fortunate to have stumbled upon a place in which the previous owner had operated as a hobby farm and in his absence we steward the gifts he left behind. We add what can carry on in harmony. Our influences and teachers are many but the love and motivation the same.
Got plants, seeds or cutting up for trade? We may have something of interest as well.
