Early working life began in Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) completing officer training as engineer (Aeronautical design) at Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA). Left military to complete degree in health sciences with majors in Psychology and religious studies, sub studies in nutrition and counselling. Further studies in community development, yoga, Ayurveda and of course permaculture. Have worked for last 27 years in areas of integrated natural health for both government and private practice and last 15 years also practicing and teaching permaculture see www.permaculturecoursequeensland.com.au and www.noosaforestretreat.com
It was my time in military that a heightened awareness and deep ongoing interest in the inter-related nature of the human situation, resource sharing, health/soil/fresh food, personal & cultural development began. I left the military to study health, nutrition and psychology with a growing interest in cultural, community and personal development. While at university I became aware of permaculture work of Bill Mollison and David Holmgren. I later met one of Bills first students Geoff Lawton who I met and helped with a couple of projects in the Noosa Shire (Sunshine Beach School garden, urban permaculture house project in Sunshine Beach work exchange on Geoffs hinterland property) Went on to do MY PDC & teacher training course in 2001 & 2004.
