Shekon, I am a Kanyenkehaka citizen living on one my people's 8 communities. I grew up gardening and embedded in a culture of people that have for thousands of years maintained to varing degrees permaculture practices as well as philosophical and theroretical frame works. I have only recently began to explore and learn about the global movement within the permaculture community. I am currently enrolled at the university of Gaia's masters program. Work with several elders within my nation I intend to establish an indigenous Kanyenkehaka traditional knowledge and permaculture research institute.
my wife and I have a 46 acre Farm on the Six Nations reserve here in Ontario Canada where we have some heritage turkeys "Ridley" bronze wing turkeys. Chickens for meat and eggs and soon to be tractor and green house workers. as well as raised bed gardens which supply our family with much of the food that supports our family. also we continue to traditionally harvest Deer, Elk, moose and fish within our territory. I am interested in working with other permaculturalist and indigenous people's still continuing there traditional sustainable substance practices to increase my knowledge and to provide access for others who wish to learn and expand there ability to be self sustaining and living with the earth and not on her. I will post videos, photos, and articles as things develop. I am glad I found the permaculture movement.
