We just finished the second day of our PDC.
What a great thing - I am thinking that when it comes to classifying permaculturalists, this group would be under the "pragmatic" category. Every student is mature, has a wealth of life experience, has taken a broad range of paths but all share a great hunger not for permaculture, per se, but for knowledge about new ways, different ways, and new possibilities.
The joy of small towns has come home to me since starting to organise the course....as for a venue, the local school just gave me a set of keys (actually, the Head Teacher just pulled the key off his keyring) and said to give them back whenever we are done...the students are all keen to do some practical stuff at each others' places ... people giving, sharing, organising and working together really well.
And all for nothing but time.
In the interests of the ethic of sharing surplus, the course is offered at no cost to local folk for whom such things would never otherwise be possible without great inconvenience (and because the idea of the accounting side of it all just bores me).
Until next week...
