Vandana Shiva is one of my favourite grassroots activists, having written such notable titles as Earth Democracy and Monocultures of the Mind. She is an articulate voice in defence of traditional cultures and ways of being, community empowerment, and true sustainability. Vandana will be awarded the Calgary Peace Prize this weekend, and I will attend her acceptance speech.

I also hope to gain some practical permaculture experience while in Calgary, so I am helping at the Mustard Seed permablitz on Friday, and the Slippery Slope permablitz on Sunday (both are hosted through the Permaculture Calgary network).

It is time for positive action!
