Our season started late this year because of cool temperatures and a ice storm that frostbite the new buds of trees and plants. it also created a months worth of work to clean it up? I have reworked one large raised garden in to two raised beds and then added one additional bed. With the plans to plant these beds next year. I have been planning to start permaculture as I perceive it for several years. My parents own the property that me and my family live on. We are three generations in one house. I must have a family council and slowly introduce ideas over time so that I can get the go ahead for each project. The plans for the raspberry bushes was a three year plan that went from raspberries and blue berries to just raspberries. I ended up planting 6 plants with 3 different varieties that should produce berries over three months. These where my Mothers Day gift and my husband and two children, in there early twenties, helped me plant them. The strawberries I have had permission for a long time just needed to fine the write place and time to plant them. I put in 8 plants with 4varieties to extend my season. I have surrounded these with low fencing and screen to keep the birds out the the useful insects to have access. I hope in the future to have enough to share with the birds as well.
