I've always been one to build systems that serve dual purposes and are self sufficient (solar hot water, solar power, reusing, up cycling ect) so once I started hearing about permaculture it obviously sucked me in.
Originally we purchased 5 acres and had horses on it but that seemed like a waste of the land so now we have subdivided it and sold half of the property to a close family friend. He also has an interest in permaculture and is just getting ready to build a house after his house in suburbia sells. Currently we are using chickens and ducks to increase the fertility of the land and give us some eggs and meat as well.
I'm hoping to turn our now 2.5 acres of property into a food creating forest and multiple garden areas with other pasture for the chickens and possibly some other small animals in the future.
