Since I was a small child I was always interested in growing food for myself and my family. During school, I loved Geography, particularly Physical Geography. I have had many distractions over my life, including my Bachelors Degree in Psychology however I still squeezed in tertiary Geography studies while at Uni - I just couldn't turn my back completely!
After Uni, a friend of mine introduced me to Permaculture and I bought a copy of Introduction to Permaculture by Bill Mollison and I couldn't believe that I finally had a book which had all of the information that I had dreamed about for such a long time, all in one place! Since then, despite working in many industries such as retail, the energy industry and construction, I have always gardened and grown herbs, vegetables and fruit. I have and continue, to read and research, experiment and create, explore and learn all that I can about organic food growing and permaculture.
Now, many years on and many distractions later, I have a family and a little piece of earth on which to create my permaculture wonderland and it's time to fulfil the dream of becoming a Permaculture Consultant. I am off to the Permaculture Research Institute at Zaytuna Farm in The Channon to complete my Permaculture Design Certificate with Geoff Lawton in January 2015 and from there, who knows - I sure am excited though!
