David's interest in gardening started in the early 80's when his family bought 25 acres on Lake Tinaroo on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. Leaving school he worked on cattle stations/farms from the Gulf of Carpentaria to various properties around central Queensland before returning to manage the family farm. In the mid 90's he became involved in civil construction earthworks which has seen him become active in both small and large projects around Australia including the mining and gas industries. Most recently (2015) working as part of FMG's 40GL/yr Managed Aquifer Recharge scheme mitigating environmental impact, working with fine tolerances around Aboriginal Cultural Heritage areas and re-habitation earthworks. In his training experience he has worked with a range of people from refugees and people re-entering the workforce through to skilled operators. He has a Cert II in Construction & Cert III in Civil Construction and Plant Operations and as well as other licences, currently holds Nationally Recognised licences (RII Competencies) for Excavator, Grader, Dozer, Scraper, Loader, Skidsteer, Backhoe, Roller, Haul Truck and is still a very keen gardener.

David was first introduced to some concepts of permaculture through his neighbor on an adjoining farm in the 80's. While being interested in what was read and discussed it wasn't until recently that a more focused interest developed.

David has a Cert IV in Training and Assessing and is available as a consultant, operator and/or operator trainer specializing in all aspects of earthworks including permaculture related earthworks and Keyline design. He wishes to network with designers and consultants on his or other future projects to deliver practical and high quality outcomes. As a natural communicator, he bridges the gap between designer and operator.

As a trainer, David is very patient and is able to design a training program specific to individual requirements and skill levels.
