Terry Meer is dedicated to creating and nurturing abundant communities and building a bridge connecting the nature of our hearts and earths ecology.
Growing up on a sailboat in the Florida Keys, he learned the importance of our valuable and limited natural resources creating a desire to see alternatives to ecologically destructive electrical, water, transportation, and waste-treatment systems in popular society. After moving on land in the 5th grade he started his study of ecology and human behavior. The path started after he graduated college studying Human behavior as a Behavior Analyst working with non-verbal children with Autism. Learning to value listening without using words, his human behavior work met his love for ecology and transcended into the new field of Sacred Ecology. He began to seek out workshops on building relationships with nature and quickly discovered Permaculture. He has studied with Permaculture experts including John Jeavons, Eric Toensmeier, and David Jackie and sacred ecology wisdom keepers including John Milton and Sandra Ingerman during his 20-year journey for knowledge. Terry moved to Orlando, Florida in 2007 where he became part of the foundation of the blossoming Permaculture movement there. He started the Green Education Center, a school based in ecology and sustainable practices as a way to help people in the community contact low-impact and sustainable lifestyles.
Terry is the Permaculture Director at Sustainable Kashi in Sebastian, Florida which is an 80-acre river front intentional community with permaculture demonstration sites including perennial food forests, 7 intensive gardens, and an off-grid eco-village with the goal of becoming more socially, culturally, economically and ecologically sustainable.
He has worked on several community building projects including community gardens for the homeless, organic gardens for children with autism, free community permaculture courses for low-income families, and partnered in the construction and design of the “Econ Farm”, a project to demonstrate low-impact living that was featured in Oprah Magazine in 2008. Terry has taught classes on permaculture and closed loop eco-systems across the United States, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Australia, Panama, and in the Bahamas.
“My purpose in life is to express my qualities of compassion, commitment, and wisdom by joyfully healing, creating, and living mindfully to create a world that is naturally harmonious, magnificently abundant and a true reflection of the divine blessings available to everyone.”
