I am an educator from Toronto, Canada. The first time I encountered Permaculture was WWOOFing at the Maya Mountain Research Farm in Belize in 2004. I was blown away by this holistic and productive system, but shelved it when I returned to my urban life.
I recently returned from a year in Australia where I was able to re-commit myself to learning about Permaculture. I facilitated the first ever Youth Permaculture Challenge for high school students in Byron Bay, worked on an organic farm in the Blue Mountains and another in Nannup WA, and did a PDC at Milkwood in Western NSW.
My goal is to integrate permaculture principles into mainstream education. I think that students can benefit immensely from the kind of empathetic, critical, creative systems thinking that permaculture embodies.
