(projects i'm following)
I am a registered nurse having worked in the pharmaceutical industry in sales and training in Australia and the UK. I have traveled extensively throughout the world observing nature and people for over 20 years.
My interest in Permaculture started in the mid 1980's when I saw an interview with Bill Mollisom on TV which made me rip up my concrete driveway and plant trees and buy " An Introduction to Permaculture".
Projects involved with include the design and implementation of two rural properties on the sunshine coast using Permaculture Design Principles for sustainability from scratch. My current property is set up as a Permaculture demonstration site where i have had guest from Mexico, Spain, Brazil, UK and Australia participate in design and development of many permaculture systems such as water harvesting swales, garden bed design, fencing, worm farms, chicken foraging, food forests native and subtropical plus retrofitting for climate control.
I have a Permaculture design consultancy, "Green Mate Permaculture Design Consultant" working with landscapers, private individuals, run workshops at a lifestyle festival and gest lectured for the Northern Bali Permaculture Group and consulted privately in Bali and Timor Indonesia.
This experience led me to being the resident Permacultrist for Soneva Fushi Eco Resort by Sixsenses in the Maldives.I oversaw the operation of an Eco Centro for waste to wealth management through reducing , reusing and recycling inputs on to three islands for the Six Senses Group. A further 2 Eco Centro's were designed and installed under my guidance and the staff trained in the operation. Wealth created is then used throughout the resorts organic food producing gardens where Permaculture principles and design are incorporated for sustainable food production and to help acheive the decarbonizing of the resort by 2012.
I resigned to peruse my consultancy in December 2011. I have since worked on designing sustainable food production systems for a private residence in Malibu CA USA, implemented water saving strategies and soil building techniques in the Caribbean. Been a key note speaker at WWW.RAWFAIR.COM London. I am currently advising on Permaculture design, implementation and education of sustainable tropical food production systems focusing on soil health and closed loop waste management systems.
All is recorded for everyone on www.permaculturemaldives.blogspot.com
Additional projects have included community school gardens, assisting implemention of the regional Bio Sphere project for the Baa Atoll and the development of other Sixsenses properties using sustainable land management practices with Permaculture Design.
I will be running a Permaculture Design Course focusing on the tropics at my beach side property. The course is a practically based PDC
the update covers my experience as a keynote speaker at www.rawfair.com a conference dedicated to naturally grown wines. Organic and Biodynamic were words heard every where ... not Permaculture !!!
The objective was to roll out replicable models that could be used on other sister resorts and within the local communities to reduce the impact of pollution on the environments tourists and travelers come to see world wide. As Soneva Fushi
