I am a global citizen. I live diversity daily. I am educated in sustainability, education and permaculture and I attempt to practice these complex ideas by living simply. I am inspired by people who innovate, who are creative and who share their ideas with others.
I became interested in permaculture as a graduate student at Portland State University. Permaculture was such a buzz-word in those circles, but studying it, observing it and then experimenting with it, permaculture became real and exciting. I began to see the world in permaculture terms and although I don't think that permaculture is the only system with viable answers, it has provided me a guiding framework to approach myriad problems that I face (personally and processionally).
Recently I have been using permaculture more and more as I develop my professional persona as a consultant. I am working with several groups in Sri Lanka to introduce permaculture concepts, and to help shape and guide their community work with permaculture as the guide. The most interesting project that I am involved in now is the integration of permaculture and peace building. We are trying to establish guidelines for community based peace initiatives based on permaculture principles. Eventually we will set up a permaculture demonstration site that has the capacity to work on land based design issues and address social and cultural needs in Sri Lanka.
I am running a crowd-sourced funding campaign to help me on my path to becoming a permaculture instructor
