(projects i'm involved in)
I oversee a one acre Food Forest project at Clear Sky Meditation Centre, in the E. Kootenay of BC. It is one of Canada's few cold climate food forests, and we have been working closely with pioneer Canadian food forester, Richard Walker, on its design. We have a social enterprise farm at Clear Sky and are in the process of discovering how to generate livelihood an income from our farm and food forest. I also have a strong interest in medicinal herbs.
I was born in New Zealand and spent a lot of time in Asia but now live in Canada. I helped start and then managed Clear Sky farm and food forest for 4 years in BC Canada, and am now studying Chinese Medicine in Calgary.
I became interested in permaculture due to concerns about peak oil, economic instability, climate change and unsustainable agriculture. I wanted to help start a sustainable farm at Clear Sky Meditation Centre, so decided to take my first PDC. I've studied with Jo Pearsall and Bryan Innes in New Zealand, Mark Shepard from Wisconsin and Jesse Lemieux from BC.
One Acre Cold Climate Food Forest thriving in Zone4, Eastern BC.
Planting of the one acre food forest at Clear Sky began in late April and has been a great success so far, thanks to so many volunteers and students.
