(projects i'm following)
I have been a small business owner since 1990.
Being exposed to the permaculture idea a few years ago, adding completion Geoff Lawton's online PDC 2013, I have begun to intensely implement the methods. Including diversifying my city backyard and implementing a mainframe Permaculture-inspired design on a wild land track. This wild land has many of the criteria as highlighted by Geoff, and Bill Mollison in the manual, as potential for an aquaculture site.
In my view it is important to gain hands on experience as a step in establishing a valuable consultancy, with the aim to establish demonstration sites that will aid others in learning Permaculture techniques. Thank you.
I bill the title statement as a Permaculture Rule
A companion planting guide is helpful in learning capatability, then imagination kicks in on the timing!
Strawberries and chives ring the border, a scant few potatoes, rutabaga, beet seeds planted.
14 herb plants installed, the sprial will disappear in green come the end of July! Just working an hour or so every other day, or something like that.
Need a keyhole garden bed! Already I have received a positive facebook message from a local. :-)
I built a sifter and started shaking out the large material in making a fine seed starting medium.
Update on the Advanced Aerobic Composting series.
Plus an update on snow seeding.
The snow is going to melt in a few weeks giving way to spring! Now is the time to experiment with this seeding technique.
Six months after harvest we are still sitting on a mother load of perfect winter squash.
Below zero F temperatures, -35 with wind chill. But winter is not over yet...
First show since 2010, hawking solar air heating, solar water heating, solar electric, wood pellet and gasification burners.
Pollarding for the many uses of stick wood.
Trying out a Geoff Lawton PDC idea.
Multi-purposed, primary function is access to the back of the forty acres.
Using empty spaces in the lawn to plant something!
Corn as trellis, beans for nitrogen and squash for cover. Producing food for me and mine!
Linked video is the first leg of a 29 hour marathon session of digging swales - also including two small dams.
The smell will invite you!
Three sisters technique but planted in rows adding an early radish twist.
