About Emet Degirmenci

I am passionate about food growing, culture, RE-localization, commons and RE-skilling.

After 14 years of Geophysical engineering experience including many field studies, I took my first PDC with Max Lindegger in 1997 and involved in to many community gardening projects.
Since I come from a peasant family background I was practicing agroecology from teenage years. Being in the social ecological movement many years, permaculture ethics and principles were not new to me, but it was a good holistic package. Especially the techniques for water management on a land opened up my eyes.
In 2007, I have founded Innermost Gardens for refugees and new migrants in Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand. http://www.innermostgardens.org.nz/
This was a great chance to expand my horizon from community building to landscape design.
I have worked with indigenous people in Australia and Aotearoa/NZ.

Recent years, I am living in Seattle Washington State, US, and practicing permaculture for food sovereignty concept. I have some experience from Cyprus and Turkey too.
