During the last days of January, Casa Cosmica opened it's doors to everyone interested in knowing a little bit more about this interesting aproach to vegetable growing, specially those that did not have much space to do so, since this method brings us the possibility to grow more vegetables in less space.
It's a labour intensive way, but that's only at the beggining, then energy required to matain the vegetable garden decreases as the soil conditions and experience of the grower improove.
I had the chance to learn this method at a 3 day seminar in Santiago del Estero, with Juan Manuel Martinez Valdez from ECOPOL NGO, brought by an association between the local agriculture university and GADE, and NGO working with the protection of local environments that are in danger because of large soy plantations and open sky mining.
In this ocasion, i felt that an introductory course would be interesting in order to get acquanted with the large picture of what it's all about, and also sow the seed of change, thinking in cultivating counciousness, and then cultivating the soil for plants. I feel that's were we have to start, in our hearts and minds. Once you open your eyes and see more than you were used to, something starts to change, at it's own time and ways, but you'll never be the same; and if each of us changes it's world, then everyone can change too, and all together can definately change the entire world.
It was quite a challenge to put all this together in a single evening, considering that the information to be shared was given in a 3 day, 8hs workshop. But somehow we've managed to get to all the basics, even doing some little practice (double excavation, seedlings, planting and so on)
A hot day it was, we even had the opportunity to share some awesome fruit juices made by some friends, they really know what juicing it's about! I thank a lot their energy and support. That's the crew this EarthShip needs! :D
As i write this, i went to check out the page of a local bio-regional magazine that contents it's always related to suistainabilty issues, activities in the zone, etc, and look what i've found!! http://www.reverdecerweb.com.ar/index.php/inicio/eco-practicas/35-pulsando-las-artes-de-la-tierra they have writen a little piece with the experience of the workshop. Thanks a lot to them as well for coming around and puting their best effort to make more and more links on this net we're all a part of, Keep up the good work friends!!
This activity was a part of an idea and feeling that has been moving inside me for a while, related to sharing what i've been collecting around my travells, and help others that are willing to make some changes, bringing them options and ways to do them step by step, but always looking forward to their dreams, patiently and persistently walking through the experience and awarenss state that permaculture represents. I hope i can start another workshop in the next project i'll be working on in Bahia Blanca. That's were my energy is!
I thank all the ones involved in this, the cosmic family that's always open to bring together the big family, everyone that took some time to travel so far and came with their best vibrations, and last but not least, the universe, the source, for helping me all along the way to realize that this is my mission and it's time i take my place in the spaceship and start doing what it has to be done, always trusting that what happens, anything, it's the best. Thank You ALL!!!!
