Well this was a tough brief from my first client, I have to say.
She had recently bought the property and it had a decent sized back yard with some existing trees around the edges of a large lawn on a slight incline towards the house. The challenge was that she was not particularly "green", not that interested in growing things to eat, had no gardening background, didn't want to spend much money and wanted to keep the majority of her lawn. Right, so what does a permie do? He get's creative is what.
I prepared a design working in some privacy plantings, vege beds, herb spiral, fruit trees and worm towers. When I presented it to her - along with my rationale for the choices and an explanation of what Permaculture was about -(to my great surprise and relief) she loved it and wanted to do it all! Fantastic result.
I was leaving the country before implementation took place but she was thrilled with the work I'd done and was much more excited about growing things (now she could see the potential) than she ever had been before. I'm looking forward to supporting her with it remotely as things move forwards.
