Finally made it home after 3 months away. Three lessons away from completing the PDC and no closer to a design than when we started. Its not that we haven't made progress, because we just invested in a laser transit and new tractor with a bucket, box blade and, most importantly, a backhoe.
Because we live in a valley, we have very slight drops in elevation. There is no available topography map indicating the contour of our property because there really isn't much. Hence, the need to purchase the laser level. We're going to work as a team to survey the contours. He's going into the field with his new toy and I'm going to Google Earth to enter coordinates and draw contour lines on the satellite view of the Fort.
It all takes money, unfortunately. And, more unfortunately, the way we earn a living requires us to be away from home for 6 wks up to 3 months at a time. We'll be so glad to get the place paid off so at least one of us can be home full time. We have to put off so much until then but there's still a bunch of stuff we can do now. Chin up! Never give up, never surrender!
