I am from the valley of the Great Miami River in southeast Ohio, about 50 miles upstream from the Ohio River. It was a great place to be from, lots of snow in winter, long hot summers, joyous springs and colorful autumns with the best apple cider.
After traveling around the planet for a decade or so I settled near Coogee Beach on the Pacific Ocean in Darug country in Australia.
I've had a few careers from teacher to salesman; lawyer to mediator, mother and business woman. I study history and politics and herbs in the wise woman tradition and they all led me to permaculture.
With a PDC in my back pocket completed in April 2011, I am spending time on permaculture farms, making what contribution I can and continuing my education. So far:-
Sub tropics - Northern New South Wales
PDC - Zaytuna Farm, The Channon
Djanbung Gardens, Nimbin
Sub tropics - Sunshine Coast hinterland
Black Mountain, Corroy, Qld
Tropics - Far North Queensland
Maryfarms, Qld
Kuranda, Qld
From the garden and utter to the dinner table ... An internship with Elisabeth Fekonia integrates traditional food production with permaculture.
