Born in Northern NSW i grew up till i was ten in a small place called Booyong. We were on 2.5 acres near the remnants of some old flood plain rain forest and on our own land my hippy parents grew veges, kept a cow and planted fruit trees and rainforest trees. My brother and i had lots to climb, massive clumps of bamboo to run around, chooks to chase and dogs to explore with. We frequented Yoga classes and Ashrams and of course the beaches of Byron Bay. After there we moved to Bali to live in the villages outside of Ubud where my parents set up a restaurant based around a cultural encounters concept. My father stayed on for another 20 years building and designing the gardens at The Kupu Kupu Barong resort. His design principle was always to work with the environment and the patterns in nature.
Obviously influenced by my up bringing i began pursuing Permaculture a few years ago first doing a weekend intro with the Milkwood guys and then another intro course with Penny Pyett in 2009 which led me to the PDC with Geoff Lawton in April 2011.
After 10 years as a window cleaner in Sydney my aim now is to move into full time Permaculture consulting with fellow consultants on any project i can get ongoing experience in. Id like to do some aid work in Indonesia down the track and be a part of the growing community creating an institute and perhaps dabble in some teaching.
I'm interested in Bamboo and its usages and like the idea of incorporating it into design as a multi multi purpose resource.
