Born in Menlo Park in May of 1984 and raised in Palo Alto, California, photography has been one of Daniel’s passions since a very young age. He appreciates the craft on all levels, from printing to framing, people to nature, hobby to artistic release, and from image conceptualization to manifestation. Daniel enjoys viewing the camera as a weapon for social change.
San Clemente, Irvine, Half Moon Bay and the Monterey Peninsula. Daniel lived in Barcelona, Spain studying the Spanish language. The Pacific North West: Seattle, Vancouver, Bellingham and the San Juan Islands. Daniel got certified to Scuba dive on the Bay Island of Roatán, Honduras in the Caribbean Sea. Touring China and Tibet, using a film camera. He worked construction in Bozeman, Montana and taught English in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
At the University of California in Santa Cruz, Daniel created an Independent Inter-curricular course of study combining Photography with Sociology, and Cultural Anthropology, in order to have a more humanistic based approach to photography rather than strictly artistic. Daniel is passionate about social justice and environmental education. Capturing images through photography while at home in California, and during his travels around the planet, has been a source of pleasure and a medium of expression.
Daniel recently graduated with an MSc in 'Integrative Eco-Social Design' with Gaia University. He worked as a farm intern in Tennessee, and as an artist in residence at the Omega Institute. He obtained an Urban PDC with UPISF, and also a rocky mountain PDC in Colorado.
He is now doing residential/commercial solar installations and working as a Team Leader with Grid Alternatives. He is also doing aquaponic greenhouses at schools with Jon Parr. He hopes to also do tree work with Lee Klinger part time.
