I've been gardening forever and love it. Now after much reading, research and taking the Permaculture Design Certification, I garden smarter and with renewed pleasure. I have a small urban plot which disguises as a flower garden but hides a multi-level functional and high producing produce garden. My neighbours are amazed at how much I can produce and are always asking for advice, so one by one, the permaculture way is being transferred. The opportunity to work with families in Malaysia gave me a chance to help them learn to become more self sustaining with food production. They learned how to turn small stamp size plots into multi-level food production sites. Their favourite areas of learning were the Berkley method of composting, worm farms for chemical free fertilizer and making garden plots beautiful by diversifying planting types and levels. It was pure joy to work with people so anxious to become more self sustaining.
I would like to continue to work in developing countries to help families and communities become self sufficient in their food production while improving the quality of their land. I am looking for opportunities to utilize my teaching skills - permanent teachers licence - love of travel and working in diverse situations.
I'll be teaching two introductory courses to Permaculture at Yasica Mountain Eco Centre in March http://yasicamountainecocenter.com/
