requested 9000 dollars to continue the fine work he was doing in Africa. In the spirit of acting locally and thinking globally members of Gold Coast permaculture began in ernest to organise activities to help raise money for Warren. We were especially impressed by Warrens dedication and humble attitude and his resillence in the face of his own recent personal challenges.http://permaculture.org.au/2010/10/04/quail-springs-sustains-major-flood-damage/
Our first effort was to organise a social day to start planting up so we could give away some seedlings and raise some money from our more exotic spiecies.

This was a great sucess our next job was to organise a workshop,we enlisted the help of some good presenters Justin GCP and Greg from wormtec a vermicomposting company that aslo manufactures some of the finest organic soil foods available in Australia. We then asked local business to help sponsor the event with prizes for a raffel.
Attendence was free and if you felt like donating or buying a raffel ticket you could do so.
The workshops were on Worm farming and Tropical and sub tropical gardening using perennials. They ran well over schedule because of audience enthusiasim.
We served home made chilli cordials created by one of our hardest working members Rebecca Bowen.Lyn Mansfield our secretary made sure the day was a sucess with her years of expertise in community organisation and fundraising. These two wonderful members took time out from their thriving gardens to plan this day down to the smallest detail.
You will see in the background our home base on the Gold Coast "Urban Eden",a garden created by members of GCP for the community to enjoy.
Special thanks goes out to Tracy Malone from equine experience for the donation of a 100 dollar gift voucher,Nick Huggins for the donation of a Design consultation,Lyn Mansfield for the donation of a super delux dental hygine kit and electric toothbrush,David Russel from Budget rent a car for vouchers,Fernando Pessoa for the donation of many rare and hard to get plants that we sold on the day, also to Three worlds Drum shop who hosted the event and also hosts GCP home garden "Urban Eden."
Our raffel is ongoing we hope to raise 1000 dollars and we raised 250 dollars from our first workshop. The next one is March the 5,we will keep you posted.

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PDC TeacherPeople who claim to teach some version of PDC somewhere in the world. |
|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
