In search of a measure to deal with wild animal

Posted by Yasutoshi Koga over 12 years ago

The crops I planted this spring went to stomachs of wild deer.

I greatly disappointed when I found in the morning that my crops were eaten up almost completely by wild deer.  I have been tolerating it when deer eat some leaves and leaf buds of young trees in my land as they regenerate themselves OK.  But, the crops being eaten up is certainly beyond 'Fair Share', one of PC ethics!  Fencing them out is, though effective, not an attractive solution for me, so I am in search of reasonably effective solution.

Marc-Antoine Cousin
Marc-Antoine Cousin : It reminds me of how Geoff Lawton dealt with foxes on his farm. He has two dogs, one night dog and one day dog. From young, he trained his night dog to spot and attack foxes. This has been working well for him. Good luck.
