Swimming pool to swimming pond.

This is the journey of our swimming pool,from a sad resource sucking pool of polluted water,to a heavily stacked resource rich habitat.

Our dog is a master rat catcher,he is also a keen fisherman.

Our pool supplies compost material,food,habitat,water storage,recreation,and joy.It costs us nothing and requires very little maintenance.

We have had a few mobile phones fall out of pockets as people bend over to look at the underwater action.I have a merman on hand for such catastrophe.

The average pool in Australia costs 2500 dollars a year to maintain.It is full of toxins and completely unsustainable.

We are happy for people to visit,and will happily do tours with good notice at least 1 month please, as we have tight personal schedules.

We do consultations on retro fitting your garden,home and pool.

Our system requires no power,chemicals or outside food sources.We have had the water tested and by WHO standards it is fit for human consumption.We suppliment our chickens diet with small native fish from the pool,they are completely free range.

The pool is able to generate many meters of high quality compost materials.It is host to an awesome array of benificial insects and frogs,which creates a very stable system.

Stephanie Ladwig-Cooper : we are doing something very similar in northern california for a small urban property. thanks to those that have done this before for the inspiration and before and after shots. it was incentive for our friends when they saw this project and (the very few) others to do the same with their never used swimming pool! the solar powered pond is now surrounded by an evolving forest garden which receives overflow from the pond when rooftop rainwater collection overfills the system. nothing wasted, isn't it great!

	PDC Verified People who have entered an email address for the teacher of their PDC course, and have had their PDC status verified by that teacher. Watch their updates for evaluation.
	PRI PDC People who’ve taken a Permaculture Research Institute PDC somewhere in the world.
	PDC Teacher People who claim to teach some version of PDC somewhere in the world.
	PRI Teacher With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
	Aid Worker The individual with this badge is indicating they are, have, or would like to be involved in permaculture aid work. As such, the individual may or may not have permaculture aid worker experience. Watch their updates for evaluation.
	Consultant The individual with this badge is indicating they are, have, or would like to do paid permaculture design consultancy work. As such, the individual may or may not have permaculture consultancy experience. Watch their updates for evaluation.
	Community Project Community projects are projects that help develop sustainable community interaction and increase localised resiliency.
