Sustainable Living Assistant Position in Costa Rica

Posted by Bearfoot Flagg over 7 years ago

We are looking for an assistant to our sustainable living instructor to help out with different construction projects. Currently we are building an outdoor kitchen with a living roof that will house an earthen oven, a barrel oven, counter tops, and a sink. We also have under construction a 14 foot diameter cob house with a living roof (the first of many) and soon we will also be starting construction on a composting toilet. Many other projects are upcoming once these have been completed. In addition to this we are growing our organic farm, trail building through our 4.5 hectares (11 acres) of jungle, and much more.

This is a great opportunity for someone with natural building experience who is interested in learning more with some real hands-on immersion. The right candidate(s) will be working with our sustainable living instructor Bearfoot. You can view his bio at http://earthayni.org/meet-the-tribe/.

We are asking for a minimum commitment of 3 months with the possibility of this becoming a long-term position. This position is available starting 1 August 2017. Shared accommodations are included in our house and camping is always available if you prefer more privacy but you would need to provide your own tent and gear. As we are a small organization we only ask that you contribute a small amount for food. We go to the farmers market once a week and spend $25 each (approximately $100 per month). We strive to provide organic produce as much as possible. Be prepared for hard work, wholesome food, and good friends!

If you are interested please email us through our contact page at http://earthayni.org/contact/. After this we would like to meet you face to face via Skype or Facebook video chat to learn more about you, your goals, and answer any questions that you may have.

ABOUT US
Earth Ayni is a healing, wellness, sustainable living center, and organic farm that recently relocated from Peru to Costa Rica. We are located near the beach town of Dominical on the Central Pacific Coast. The land is a mixture of pasture and jungle and has a creek running through it with many natural swimming holes. Our water supply is very pure, coming from the many springs we have on the property. We are very close to multiple waterfalls, rivers, and beautiful beaches for surfing. Please view our website for more information at http://earthayni.org/. Join us in the land of Pura Vida!

Tom-Scott Gordon : That's a stunning vista! For a couple of years I entertained the idea of creating an investment vehicle for Americans that would equally serve to build the economy and regenerative livlihoods of up to say 50 American participants and a hundred or so Costa Ricans. The goal was based on leveraging the legal right to turn your IRA into an offshore land-based investment, under the operational umbrella of a non profit trust, with numerous for-profit daughter industries dedicated to creating export goods. Like the Kiva loan program in Africa, project seed money and shared leveragable assets would enable the community to prosper in advance of the country overall. Americans could choose to take dividends in the form of exported organic goods, which like Heiffer International would serve as a means of advertising the quality of Costa Rican specialty goods. Oddly, there was but one American male heavily invested in organic nursery production in the central part of your country.

Bearfoot Flagg : sounds interesting. there are many locally doing organic farming in the central pacific region. quite a few in our area on the mountain near tinamastes and platanillo. we also know some organic cacao farmers on the caribbean side. i think you might find some interest in our area if you were looking to revisit that idea!

eira jeremy : This opportunity sounds amazing! I'm excited about the sustainable living projects and the chance to learn hands-on. Costa Rica seems like a beautiful location with its jungles, waterfalls, and beaches. I'll definitely consider applying and exploring the land of Pura Vida from my location.
