(projects i'm involved in)
(projects i'm following)
I'm originally an artist with a degree in Studio art, avid traveler who has been to over twenty five countries, and have been funding all of this via English teaching work in South Korea and China. I've also volunteered throughout my adventures and believe firmly in the role of social activism for beneficially shaping our society. I have been pursuing independent study of Ayurvedic diet, cooking, and nutrition and would life to pursue certification in the future.
I was inspired to commit to a life in permaculture after volunteering for an intentional community called Bosque Village (Michoacán, Mexico) in 2010. I propagated wild-harvested seeds and transplants, installed raised beds, and built a cabin and chicken. I eventually pursued a permaculture certification in Portugal in July 2011 where I practiced alternative sustainable agriculture and living techniques such as sheet mulching, building a solar oven, creating a large-scale hot compost and rainwater harvesting earthworks. As part of the certificate completion, I designed a whole-farm and permaculture management plan for a two-acre site. The design included sector and flow analysis of inputs and outputs, client profile, maps, and local cultivars and animal species. The design also included specific designs for a passive solar home, nitrogen fixing guilds for soil restoration, animal tractors, and rainwater harvesting techniques. After recently receiving my certificate, I spent time with my partner assisting him in design and implementation of a permaculture garden in the summer to fall of 2011 in France. I also love fermented foods cultivated from wild yeast that include sourdough bread, cheese, and fermented vegetables like kimchi and sauerkraut. Ive also worked on permaculture projects in Bali producing permaculture designs and implementing various tropical guilds.
I am currently at Starseed Gardens in Byron Bay, Australia working on food forest development, subtropical perennial polycultures, faciliation and social development, and a monthly conscious cinema series event entitled PRAXIS. Check out more at starseedgardens.com
