In '09 I acquired a tiny property in the Chicago suburbs and set to work converting the conventional turf grass lot into an edible landscape. I sheet mulched most of the back yard creating over 500 sqft of rich, organic growing space. I installed 8 dwarf fruit trees, 8 berries and vines and a mushroom bed. Because storm water runoff is an issue for the community, I also installed a demo rain garden with edible and medicinal plants. It sinks 40% of the hard surface runoff.
I have recently moved an old farmhouse on 7 acres outside of Cincinnati where I'm beginning design on a sustainable farmstead.
