My name is J.D. Burnette I'm from Kingston TN in the USA. I'm 25 and enjoy camping, hiking, backpacking, climbing, caving, rappelling, music and people.
I got involved with permaculture via aquaponics and felt that the UVI system I was being taught could use a further connection with nature and close its loop as a productive system. The I found Geoff Lawton's Urban Permaculture DVD and begin researching, observing, and learning every since.
I am currently practicing my knowledge base on a small suburban lot. My vision is to own and operate 50-100 acres of land encompassing housing, lodging, conference zones, ceremonial areas, and natural amphitheaters to draw people to the land and utilize its value as a wilderness area, educational site, yoga retreat, wedding hot spot, honeymoon destination, and of course to provide food for on-site needs and the local community including area restaurants, and grocery stores. I see hill sides with dams/ponds, terraces, benches, swales, pastures, fruit forests, and coppice forests. The land is teeming with life from the micro to the macro. I want my land to become its own entity of sorts, a system that is living, diverse, and productive. People are attracted by the character of the land, amazed by the vegetation, impressed with the workload that animals, insects, plants, and fungi provide, and more than happy to come back year after year.
