Janell founded Kleiwerks International and the Ashevillage Institute. Both organizations facilitate regional community initiatives that put ecological design into action, and create ultra low carbon footprint living that makes sense for people and the planet. An avid mud mama, community organizer, and party-thrower, Janell kicked off the natural building movements in Southeast Asia and South America that have since grown into hundreds of thousands of people.
Janell lives in Western North Carolina, the oldest mountains on the planet. Her backyard is a model Permaculture site with water catchment and aquaculture ponds; edible and medicinal landscaping; earthen and recycled courtyards, and a house that's being transformed into a Sanctuary. Janell is dedicated to the champion within each of us, and to the possibility that we may live in balance with ourselves, each other, and this most beautiful planet we are blessed to inhabit.
